Joe Bauernfreund is Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Asset Value Investors. He has over 20 years’ experience in the investment management industry and is the sole manager of AVI Global Trust and AVI Japan Opportunity Trust. Joe is responsible for all investment decisions across AVI’s strategies. Before joining AVI in 2002, Joe worked six years for a real estate investment organisation in London. He has a Masters in Finance from the London Business School.

Mark is co-founder and CEO of Seraphim Space, a space focused investment firm based in London. Seraphim has a portfolio of more than 60 space companies and is the most prolific investor in the sector globally.

Mid Wynd International Investment Trust and the Artemis Global Select Fund

Simon co-manages the well-known Mid Wynd trust and Artemis Global Select Fund with Alex Illingworth. He is an experienced global equity manager and a regular contributor to the Financial Times. After graduating from Trinity College, Oxford, Simon joined Phillips & Drew in 1985 and moved to Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in 1997 as head of European equity sales. From there he went to Taube Hodson Stonex (THS) in 2001 where he had joint responsibility for global equities. He joined Artemis in 2011.

"Laura Foll is the joint manager of investment trust Law Debenture’s portfolio alongside James Henderson. She first became involved in the management of Law Debenture’s portfolio in 2011 and became joint manager in 2019.

Laura is a Portfolio Manager on the Global Equity Income Team at Janus Henderson Investors, a position she has held since 2014.Laura joined Henderson in 2009 as part of the graduate scheme. She was subsequently named a global analyst and later an assistant fund manager for the Global Equity Income Team. She also co-manages Henderson Opportunities Trust and Lowland Investment Company alongside James Henderson.

Laura graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in economics and economic history from the London School of Economics. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 12 years of financial industry experience."

Premier Miton Investors

Nick Greenwood joined Premier Miton in July 2002. He began his career in private client stock broking and was a founder member of Christows stockbroking operation in 1991. He joined the Christows Investment Trust team setting up their London office in 1995 and became lead manager in November 1997. Nick subsequently joined Premier Miton. The Premier Miton Worldwide Opportunities Fund was launched in April 2003 and was followed by Miton Global Opportunities Plc.

Guinness Asset Management

Tim read engineering at Cambridge followed by an MSc(Management) at MIT. Since 1970 he has been in the City and in 1981 moved into investment management. He then built what became Guinness Flight Global Asset Management from c $200m to c $12bn AUM. In the period 1998 to 2008 he built up an energy fund from $3m to $2bn. His new firm Guinness Asset Management (founded 2003) now runs about $5.7bn (£4.1bn) principally across energy, renewable energy, China and global quality equity income and innovators funds. Tim has written about energy for two decades covering both hydrocarbon fuels and renewables. More recently he has been focussing on the implications of the coming transition of transportation to autonomous and electric vehicles.

James Henderson is the joint portfolio manager of investment trust Law Debenture, he first became involved in the management of Law Debenture’s portfolio in 1994 and took over sole management of the portfolio in 2003.

As Director of UK Investment Trusts and a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors, James has 39 years of financial industry experience. He joined Henderson in 1983 as a trainee fund manager and has successfully managed a number of investment trusts since 1990. He also manages the Janus Henderson UK Equity and Growth Fund and co-manages Henderson Opportunities Trust and Lowland Investment Company alongside Laura Foll.

James graduated with an MA (Hons) in economics from Cambridge University.

Waverton Investment Management

Luke joined Waverton in February 2017 as the Head of Third Party Fund Selection. He is the co-manager of the Waverton Real Assets Fund and Waverton Absolute Return Fund and member of the Managed Portfolio Service Investment team. Prior to working at Waverton he was at Brompton Asset Management where he built and developed their collective investment selection process and was a key team member who focussed on managing a range of multi-asset class strategies. Luke has also worked at New Star Asset Management and SG Private Bank. He has a BA Hons degree from Manchester University and is a CFA Charterholder.

Julian Jessop

Julian Jessop is an independent economist with over thirty years of experience gained in the public sector, the City and consultancy, including stints at HM Treasury, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank and Capital Economics. Most recently, Julian was Chief Economist at the Institute of Economic Affairs, the educational charity and free-market think tank. He left that role in 2018, but continues to support the work of the IEA, especially schools and university outreach, on a 'pro bono' basis. Julian is a regular commentator in the media and has provided expert testimony to many parliamentary select committees.

Dr Paul Jourdan co-founded Amati Global Investors following the management buyout of Noble Fund Managers from Noble Group in January 2010, having joined Noble in 2007 as Head of Equities. His fund management career began in 1998 with Stewart Ivory, where he gained experience in UK, emerging market, and global equities. In 2000, Stewart Ivory was taken over by First State and Paul became manager of what is now TB Amati UK Smaller Companies Fund. In 2004, he was appointed Head of UK Equities at First State. In early 2005, he launched Amati VCT plc and he also manages Amati VCT 2 after the investment management contract moved to Amati Global Investors in 2010 (In 2018 Amati VCT merged into Amati VCT 2 which was then renamed Amati AIM VCT). Prior to 1998, Paul worked as a professional violinist, including a four-year period with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He serves as a trustee of Clean Trade, a charity registered in England and Wales.

Ian Lance joined RWC in August 2010 and, alongside co-Manager Nick Purves, manages over £3 billion of client assets, including the TM RWC Equity Income Fund and Temple Bar Investment Trust. Ian has been working with Nick since 2007, initially at Schroders and then at RWC. Prior to joining Schroders, Ian was Head of European Equities and Director of Research at Citigroup and Head of Global Research at Gartmore.  Ian Lance and Nick Purves took over managing Temple Bar Investment Trust in November 2020

Anna Macdonald (previously Croze) is an experienced fund manager specialising in UK equities. Anna began her career as an analyst and fund manager at Henderson Global Investors in London, where she co-managed the core enhanced UK equity product, and the UK Equity Market Neutral hedge fund. At Henderson she was an analyst on the media sector. After some time living in Kenya, as head of research for Old Mutual Asset Management, she returned to the UK and worked at Threadneedle Investors in London before moving to Edinburgh. Anna joined the Amati team in 2018 from Adam and Company, where she led research for the PAM-award winning wealth manager. She brings her expertise running the successful AIM-listed portfolio service to Amati as well as a breadth of experience in managing substantial OEICs, private client and charity portfolios. She has been a CFA Charterholder since 2003.

Duncan MacInnes joined Ruffer in 2012. He graduated from Glasgow University School of Law in 2007 and spent four years working at Barclays in Glasgow, London and Singapore. He is a CFA charterholder and is co-manager of Ruffer Investment Company and Ruffer Diversified Return Fund.

Dr. Malmgren is an economist who makes sense of the world economy by writing books, by founding tech businesses, by advising leaders around the world and by public speaking. She is the founder and CEO of IndraNet.ai, a Wisdom Exchange. She is a Senior Partner to The Monaco Foundry, a start-up incubator, and a Special Advisor to Avonhurst, a legal and consulting firm in the UK specializing in deals, policy and capital raising. She is the Chairman of Datifly, a firm that advises on the use of drones by industry and previously co-founded a drone manufacturing firm which won the Cog X Award for Autonomy and the 2020 National Technology Award. She is a Senior Associate Fellow of RUSI and an advisor to the BSA Huxley Summit. She served President George W. Bush in the White House as Special Assistant to the President and on The National Economic Council when Enron and 911 happened. She served on the President’s Working Group on Corporate Governance and The President’s Working Group on Financial Markets. Before joining the White House, she ran the Bankers Trust Asset Management business in Asia and was then appointed as the Global Chief Currency Strategist. She was then named the Deputy Head of Global Strategy at UBS. She has a BA from Mount Vernon College and an M.Sc. and PhD from LSE. She completed the Harvard Program on National Security. She lectures at Sandhurst and the Duke Fuqua Global Executive MBA Program and has lectured at INSEAD. She gave the graduation address at the London School of Economics in 2013 and 2016.

Dale Nicholls joined Fidelity in 1996 as a Research Associate in our Tokyo office. In 2003, he was promoted to portfolio manager of the Fidelity Pacific Fund and retains management of that fund today, alongside Fidelity China Special Situations PLC. Prior to joining Fidelity, Dale worked at Bankers Trust Asia Securities in Tokyo and as a Market/Business Analyst at Sony Corporation, also in Tokyo. He graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia

Kaite Potts is the Managing Director and also the lead fund manager for Herald Investment Management Ltd. She established HIML in December 1993 to manage Herald Investment Trust plc which was launched in February 1994 which remains the flagship fund. The fund has appreciated over the life of the Trust with an NAV total return exceeding 25x . It invests in global quoted TMT stocks with a market value below $3bn, and the UK portfolio has outperformed other geographies from inception with a return over 1500%.

Walter Price is a CFA charter-holder, Managing Director, Senior Analyst, and Portfolio Manager on the AllianzGI technology team in San Francisco. Walter received his BS with Honours in electrical engineering from M.I.T. and his BS and MS in management from the Sloan School at M.I.T. In 1971 he joined Colonial Management, an investment advisory firm in Boston, where he became a senior analyst responsible for the chemical industry and the technology area. He joined AllianzGI in 1974 as a senior securities analyst in technology and became a principal in 1978. Since 1985, he has had increasing portfolio responsibility for technology stocks and has managed many technology portfolios. Walter is a current Director and past president of the M.I.T. Club of Northern California. He also heads the Educational Council for M.I.T. in the Bay Area and is a past Chairman of the AIMR Committee on Corporate Reporting for the computer and electronics industries.

She previously worked for almost 5 years at the growth company specialist broking and advisory firm finnCap Ltd, latterly as deputy head of corporate broking. Prior to joining finnCap, Victoria was a senior reporter and diary editor at the financial newspaper City AM, having studied Modern Languages at Oxford University.

He regularly blogs at www.adventurousinvestor.com and is the founding editor of top fintech news site AltFi as well as ETF Stream. Nick has over 40 years’ experience in investment management. Before founding Lindsell Train he was head of Global Equities at M&G Investment Management, having joined there in 1998 as a director. Previously he spent 17 years at GT Management where his final role was as Chief Investment Officer for Pan-Europe, having built long investment track records in both UK and Global equities. Nick has a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.

Stephen Yiu is the Chief Investment Officer at Blue Whale Capital and Lead Manager of the LF Blue Whale Growth Fund. Stephen co-founded Blue Whale Capital with Peter Hargreaves, co-founder of Hargreaves Lansdown, in 2016. He started his career at Hargreaves Lansdown, before working with Tim Steer as a co-manager at New Star Asset Management (now Janus Henderson) and Artemis Investment Management. Most recently, Stephen worked under Martin Taylor and Nick Barnes at Nevsky Capital, a global long-short equity hedge fund.
