Growing your wealth in an era of stagnation
Global markets have proved robust this year, but the worldwide macroeconomic outlook has rarely been this inauspicious. Growth in Europe and Britain is stuck in first gear; inflation has declined but hardly disappeared; and the geopolitical environment is fraught with risk. Investors are therefore struggling to protect and grow their wealth in a dangerous world. This year’s MoneyWeek Wealth Summit will help them do so.
The MoneyWeek Wealth Summit 2024 with host Dominic Frisby will feature a full day of insightful sessions starting with registration, breakfast, and networking. Ruffer’s Alexander Charters will explore the main dangers ahead – from instability in the West to a possible invasion of Taiwan – and how investors might position their portfolios to fend off trouble.
The programme includes a panel on the outlook for the UK market and will feature Bloomberg columnists Merryn Somerset Webb and John Stepek, respectively the former editor-in-chief and executive editor of MoneyWeek magazine. They will be joined by Laura Foll of Janus Henderson and Premier Miton’s Gervais Williams, the renowned specialist in smaller companies.
MoneyWeek columnist Max King will then present a reminder of the benefits of investment trusts, and highlight the most promising sub-sectors and regions of the market. Argonaut Capital’s Barry Norris will make a further keynote speech on the outlook for energy and ESG, while there will also be a panel on emerging markets chaired by MoneyWeek’s contributing editor Cris Heaton. Another panel will examine sectors set to enjoy strong structural growth, notably biotechnology, defence and private equity. Tom Bailey of HANetf and Helen Steers of Pantheon International are specialists in the second and third areas. Longstanding MoneyWeek columnist Dominic Frisby will MC the event and participate in the final panel, which examines gold and precious metals.
Proceedings will conclude with an especially liquid investment: Our event partners Moncharm Wine Traders will have several wines for tasting and networking drinks.
Further information about the event will be posted here soon.
